Lola is leaving town for a few days, heading down to that fantastic, hedonistic paradise known as Provincetown. I've packed my bags full of fun clothes, wine and my camera, of course, and I'm driving with my best friend and another great friend of ours for a girlie vacation with our favorite gays.
We're mainly going to see our friend Ryan Landry and his cast of misfits, the Gold Dust Orphans, in their latest play, Whizzin', but we'll hit all of the art galleries, incredible boutiques and sex shops that the Town of P is known for. We'll eat, drink, dance and shop until we drop. Sadly, I'm only window shopping til I drop, because I'm on the wagon shopping-wise, and I plan to stay that way.
We'll go to our friend Billy's cabaret, where my friend will join him on stage and sing the night away, and we'll get to enjoy our extremely talented artist friends at their summer playground for a couple days. It's the great escape we try to make every year, and the weather is looking unusually nice.
The play has gotten incredible reviews, and I can't wait to witness the "evil genius" and his crew rip the Wizard of Oz apart at the seams and make it all fresh and new and raunchy in that glorious Gold Dust Orphans' way. It has been described as follows: "An adult version of the beloved classic, 'The Wizard of Oz,' 'Whizzin’' tells the musical story of troubled teenager, Dorothy Gale, as she travels over the rainbow, far from the dull, sepia toned trailer parks of Hyannis to the deep, dark recesses of her own VERY colorful mind."
Add in some incredible actors, singers and artists that create unbelievable sets, and you can't beat that. I'm getting excited just writing about it!
I'm not bringing my laptop, so unless I can bum one off of a drag queen, I'll be out of here for a few days. I will be back Wednesday night with all kinds of tales to tell and photos to boot. It promises to be a wild couple of days, so wish me luck. God, I hope there's flying monkeys!!!!

Have a fanstastic time! P-town is certainly an experience! Can't wait to hear your stories and see some pics! I'll miss you terribly, though! :-)
Thanks, Moon.
Sounds like an awesome trip.
I'll be here to water you down when you come back all flamin'
BTW, so funny to see that pic, last night I watched "The Wiz" for the first time. I KNOW I was raised in a bubble...I never knew there was a black version of the Wizard of Oz...now there's a gay version?
There's a gay version with a black man as the "good witch". It's fantastic!
OMG, this sounds like the funnest 3 days ever! The beach, cocktails and the gays? AWESOME!!
You'd better be prepared to teach those boys some of your mad pole skillz.
Can't wait to hear all about it!
The disco that we go to after the play has a pole, so you never know...
This does sound like a fun couple of days. Hope you enjoy yourself, I'll be looking forward to reading about it later this week.
I wish I had some gays around here, but in a town of less that 4,000 people and around a military base, they are hard to find. This is why I am forced to hang out with women again.
Here! Here! To the unification of Fruit Flies, Fag Hags & the Fabulous Flamin' Boys! Here! Here! Enjoy!
KAT: Just keep lookin' honey. As a well seasoned Fruit Fly I can absolutely ASSURE you that small towns and military bases are some of the best places to find Fabulous Flamin' Boys. They are there and they are always grateful for finding a friend to pal around with who doesn't feel funny about letting them try on your clothes.
ooooooh I can hardly wait to hear about the adventures! Have fun!
Wow! Sounds SO fun!
Can't wait to hear all about it! :)
